Episode 16: Talking Qualitative Research with Dr. Bill Green

Episode 16: March 3, 2014

In this episode, I interview Dr. Bill Green the Dean of the Graduate School at the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies (http://www.aiias.edu/). Dr. Green has been in the education field for over 45 years. He has worked in K-12 as a teacher and principal for 15+ years. He has been in higher education since the mid-1980s. Dr. Green has helped develop several doctoral programs in the US and internationally. He has served as a Department Chair and Dean at several universities. He has chaired and served as a committee member on many, many (sorry, don’t know the number and I don’t believe he does either) dissertations.

This interview focuses on qualitative research. What started out as Dr. Green explaining his viewpoint on qualitative research turned into a mini-lecture (a very informative one) comparing and contrasting qualitative and quantitative research. I am certain that others could (and might) disagree with his perspective. However, his discussion is a helpful one–especially for those who are new to educational research (especially qualitative research).

I plan on adding in more notes about the interview at a later date.
